Chongqing Overview

Qutang Gorge, the shortest and most majestic of the Three Gorges, winds five miles from Baidi City in Fengjie County to Daxi Town in Wushan County. The two banks of the Qutang Gorge contain numerous scenic spots.

The Wu Gorge is the second gorge of the Three Gorges of Yangtze River and is famous for its elegance. Winding over 25 miles, it starts from the estuary of Daning River (east of Wushan) in the west and ends at Guandukou in Badong, Hubei Province.

Xiling Gorge, zigzagging about 49 miles, is the longest gorge among the three gorges of the Yangtze River. Because of numerous reefs and odd-shaped stones existing in rapid shoals, the gorge is also well known for its danger.

The Dazu Rock Carvings contains all the cliffside carvings in Dazu County. The collection is composed of the rock carvings in Beishan, Baodingshan, Nanshan, Shimenshan as well as Shizhuanshan, all of which are of the highest artistic attainment and demonstrate the most exquisite skills.

Fairy Mountain Scenic Spot in Wulong, Chongqing, is a National Geological Park, a National Forest Park, and one of China’s national 4A-level Scenic Spots. It lies in the southeast of Chongqing, with Wujiang River bypasses circling the foot of the mountain.

Furong Cave,include about 30 sorts of cave sedimentary characteristics in the world. Three gems in the cave are the flitting waterfall, the source of life and the coral pond, treasures of the cave are the red coral and canines like calcite crystals in the net basin pool, which is said to be the largest one in the world.

Natural Bridges scenic spot (Tian Sheng San Qiao)is located in the north bank of Wujiang River within Wulong County in Chongqing. It’s the biggest group of natural formed bridges in the world, and there is mountain, water, fog, spring, valley, peak, creek and waterfall. It is a high-quality eco-tourist area.

LiangJiang New Area

The Liangjiang New Area is located in the north of Chongqing main city area and east of the Jialing River, covering an area of 1200 sq km, according to information from the Chongqing government. The new area will support the development of five strategic industries: railways; electrical equipment; new energy vehicles; national defense; and electronic information, the sources said. National-level research and development headquarters, a major scientific research base and a data disaster recovery center will also be built in the new area.
